Coach Kolhwaies

Welcome back, Coach Kolhwaies!

The athletic department at Cardinal Newman High School has announced
that Thomas Kohlwaies has been appointed as varsity girls basketball head coach.

“In searching for the new coach we wanted to find someone who embodies the mission and values of our school and has the necessary commitment, competitive spirit and ability to connect with students,” said interim school president, Br. Thomas Zoppo, FSC.

With 8 years of high school coaching experience with boys and girls, he recently helped guide his girls’ basketball team to two District runner-up titles and berths in the Regional playoffs. He has also assisted with a travel team in Wellington. Coach Kohlwaies is excited to return to Cardinal Newman where he played on the team that won two State titles.

Athletic director Jay Lower is excited for the future of the Lady Crusader basketball program: “We believe Tommy will be able to take on this head varsity role at Newman and be able to grow our program continuing its past success. It is a position he has wanted for a while and he is eager to get started. He will bring intensity, motivation, and energy that our players will find appealing.”

Go Crusaders!
